This 60-hour course is designed to prepare the student for a career as a phlebzotomist. A phlebotomist is a healthcare personnel who draws blood from patients for a variety of diagnostic purposes, then process and analyze the specimen with sophisticated laboratory equipment. A phlebotomist is trained in laboratory safety and must adhere to very strict policies and procedures to ensure safety.
Upon successfully completing this course, the participants will receive a diploma for Phlebotomy Technician and a First Aid and CPR certificate valid for 2 years. This course is designed to prepare students for the NHA certification exam. However, in order to take the NHA Phlebotomy Technician examination, each student must successfully complete several venipuncture and capillary puncture on live individuals. A separate fee is required for the NHA CPT examination.
