Phlebotomy Technician

Phlebotomy Technician (60 Hours)

This 60-hour course is designed to prepare the student for a career as a phlebzotomist. A phlebotomist is a healthcare personnel who draws blood from patients for a variety of diagnostic purposes, then process and analyze the specimen with sophisticated laboratory equipment. A phlebotomist is trained in laboratory safety and must adhere to very strict policies and procedures to ensure safety.

Upon successfully completing this course, the participants will receive a diploma for Phlebotomy Technician and a First Aid and CPR certificate valid for 2 years. This course is designed to prepare students for the NHA certification exam. However, in order to take the NHA Phlebotomy Technician examination, each student must successfully complete several venipuncture and capillary puncture on live individuals. A separate fee is required for the NHA CPT examination.

EKG Technician

EKG Technichian (60 Hours)

This 60-hour course prepares students for a career as an EKG Technician. An EKG Technician or an Electrocardiogram Technician (ECG Tech or EKG Tech) is a medical professional who administers electrocardiogram. An electrocardiogram is used to measure the electrical activity of the heart and to diagnose heart disease. The EKG Technician is the person responsible for performing diagnostic tests to access the heart rhythm and rate in patients.

Upon successfully completing this course, the participants will receive a diploma for EKG Technician and a CPR certificate valid for 2 years. The course is designed to prepare students for the NHA certification exam. However, in order to take the NHA EKG Technician examination, each student must successfully complete several EKGs on live individuals. A separate fee is required for the NHA CET examination.

This is an 80-hour course. Students will learn principles of medical coding related to the three main code books: CPT®, ICD-9-CM Volumes 1 & 2 and HCPCS Level II. This course is recommended for anyone who is preparing for a career in medical coding for a physician’s office.

This course provides the most up-to-date information relating to CPT®, HCPCS and ICD-9-CM coding and assures a broad encompassing knowledge and expertise in reviewing and assigning the correct procedure and diagnosis codes for physician services. The course is prepares students for the CPC® exam.
